I just realized I never shared what I did on V-Day! Probably because it was pretty mundane. But just for kicks and giggles I'll do a quick recap here.

In the morning I got dressed. I put on some gray slacks and a stupid pink long-sleeved T-shirt that has red glitter snowflakes on the front in the shape of a heart. I also put on my CRUSH SOCKS (click it! click it!), which I knit last fall with V-Day specifically in mind. Then I went to work. I worked all morning long! I'm a good worker. (Actually the day before I got an email from a buddy who does advertising, and we had a good phone conversation about how I'm in the wrong business and should go into something more creative. So I'm feeling more out-of-place than ever. D'oh! >_< Thanks, Mike.)

So then after working hard all morning, I went home for lunch, but the first thing I did when I got home was peel and cut up potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, beef, tomato etc etc etc and make an AWESOME beef stew. Tossed that in the oven at 250° and let it stew for a good 5 hours or so. Then I ate lunch for real. I can't remember what I had.

Went back to work and worked all afternoon. I worked hard! I worked good! I'm a good worker. (I have to keep telling myself that in the hopes that maybe I'll believe it and start actually emulating it someday.) At 5:00 I saw my boss run screaming out of his office, "My wife's gonna KILL me if I'm not home on time tonight!" Hmm, I thought. I am right in the middle of playing working with some html, which I could do with great enjoyment for another full hour, but I have stew in the oven and I probably should go home and check on that. Plus, it's Valentine's Day. I should not work late on Valentine's Day. That's lame.

So I went home. The whole house smelled sooooo good. So beefy stewy. It was awesome. (Little sidebar here - I didn't use the crockpot becuase it's not big enough for the amount of stew I was making. Plus, I rather hate my crockpot. That's another story. Maybe another day.) So yeah. I can't remember if Jon was home yet or not, but I had put a Post-It Note on the oven stating "STEW IN OVEN - DO NOT TURN OFF!" so he didn't see the light and think it was on by accident. But I think the wonderful aroma was clue enough. (Jeez, "wonderful aroma"??? Could I get any more corny?)

So yeah. We ate the stew. It was good. Jon asked if I had any interest in going to a movie. This is a big deal because we NEVER go to movies and I ALWAYS whine about it because I have a $20 AMC gift card that will probably expire before it ever gets used. I was not in much mood to see anything that's playing in the theaters right now. I wish there were better selections. Hollywood has gone downhill so badly. It's really sick. But I digress! No, we did not go out to a movie! We figured we could watch a DVD and then still get to bed on time.

I had bought "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "Best In Show" the previous weekend (also looked for "A Mighty Wind" but couldn't find it in the store), and really wanted to watch one of those, but Jon was not interested. He suggested we go to Blockbuster and get "A Very Long Engagement" but I was really REALLY not in the mood for a foreign romance movie. So I whined him into watching "O Brother" with me. ^_^ I've loved that movie ever since I first saw it. He'd never seen it before, and didn't seem overly blown away, but that's ok. It was something to do, anyway.

And then we went to bed by about 10pm. And then I got up early because I had to be at work no later than 7:30 the next day - ick.

So that was my Valentine's Day. What can I say? We are boring old homebodies. I think sometime today or tomorrow I should go out and see what kind of cleap clearance chocolates I can get at the stores. Heart-shaped candy... Or is it butt-shaped?? Read the article and make your own call!

I say butt.

Oh please don't feel guilty. It's ok! I had a couple other people do it already and I don't feel psychologically raped yet, so I must be strong enough to handle it. :)
