I can't find a SINGLE pair of scissors in this house. And I can't find my Swiss Army Knife either. I was JUST using the little Swiss Army Knife Scissors last night, and now I can't find it. It's on my big keyring, so obviously I can't find ANY of my keys. And Jon just left to go rearrange servers at the office.

I am trapped here with no keys, no scissors, and a gauge swatch (tube) for Soleil that I REALLY WANT TO BIND OFF AND WASH!

Gah.

I should go look in my knitting box again. I swear I thought I tossed at least one pair of my scissors in there when I was packing...

Six minutes later...
*Kicking self* OK, so they were on the bathroom counter. I don't know how they got there, or why I would have put them there, but at least I found my keys, Swiss Army Knife (and tiny scissors) included.

OK, to recap: We closed on the new house on Friday morning. I headed to work, while Jon took the rest of the day off and moved 2 trailerloads of stuff out of the old house and into the new. After work, I helped move a third trailerload. Bear in mind - we have not "packed" much of anything into boxes yet! This was all big stuff like furniture! This activity continued throughout the weekend. We now have one big house with a lot of large furniture in the garage (and some that has been brought into the house), one smaller house that has a lot of non-packed things in it, and a lot of boxes that need to be filled and moved. Why am I posting at 7:00 in the morning? Because I've been up since just before 6:00 and I'm getting bored waiting for sleepyhead Jon to wake up! Maybe I should start packing books downstairs or something...

Oh yeah, and I almost forgot - HAPPY EARTH DAY!

We skipped the Temple Burn so we could leave on Sunday afternoon instead of Monday morning. Took 3 days driving home instead of 2. Very nice and easy.

Got home Tuesday at about 6:00, and took the loaded-down car straight to the new house where we unloaded everything in the garage. Picked up the cats after that. Went to bed.

The rest of the week was moving crap into the new house. I still have quite a bit of stuff in my apartment, but I still have 3 weeks to move it. I doubt it will take me longer than the remainder of this week plus the weekend for the large things.

Jon just needs to get the piano moved out of his place and he will be done there. He has 2 prospective buyers already - one is the father of his neighbor (he wants to buy it for his OTHER son!), and the manager of the trailer park has expressed interest in buying it directly, although he would probably get a lesser price for it that way. Either way, he will do fine.

Back at work this morning. 296 emails. 3 voicemails. Tired. I feel strange. This is not fun. I should have eased back into this with a couple half-days, but I already lost all my PTO when I switched from C&W to Veritas. So I was already on unpaid time off most of last week. I can't afford any more of that.

It's only been 2 hours. What did I used to DO here? What am I doing??

So. Remember how just a short while back in my apartment building there were TWO fire alarms within 6 weeks? Both late at night, and both HIGHLY annoying? Well there were. Trust me. I don't want to mess around with linking to them, but they are there.

That did not happen last night. Nothing bad did. BUT. This morning, I got up and walked into the bathroom to take a shower as I do every day. I pulled back the shower curtain and EEK!!!! the tub was full of backup!! There was all this yucky murky water, about 1/3 tub full, and it had all kinds of black crud and crumbs of crap in it. Ewww. For a split second I thought it was a bath I had taken and forgotten to drain, but then I remembered that the last time I took a bath was on Sunday night, and I had taken a shower Monday morning, so that wasn't the case. And drainage was fine on Monday morning. So all this backup happened sometime between Monday and this morning.

I was not happy to see this. I was already running later than I wanted this morning. So I had to grab some shampoo and go wash my hair in the kitchen sink with the sprayer, and then I went and did a quick sponge-bath in the bathroom sink. Grrr. Got dressed and all that jazz. Tried unsuccessfully to use the plunger on the bathtub drain. Nothing. When I finally left for work, I swung by the rental office to mention the problem, but no one was there!! And it was after 8! So I came to work and tried calling the office again. No answer!!! I left a voicemail about the drainage issue, and told them to feel free to just go in there and look at it if they need to... Although I suspect it's probably a bigger issue than just my tub.

I guess I'll see what happens when I go home for lunch today...

But yeah, this is another reason why I guess I'm not TOO sad about leaving this building... although overall, it's been a really pleasant place to live, and I'll miss the pool, even though I never used it much.

Then again.... what if the new house has even MORE issues?? (>_<) D'oh.

[livejournal.com profile] zebracar has just offered to pay for my internet until I get my car paid off, which would be December. I can't believe it! I keep refusing, and he keeps saying that it is like a utility, I use it daily, and it is a good source of information and entertainment, since I will only have broadcast TV, and as he says, "YUCK!" lol

I told him I would think about it, and that we could talk about it more this weekend after I move, but I would sorta feel really uncomfortable accepting that kind of generosity... its not that I don't appreciate it, but I really try very hard to be independent and cut corners where I have to in order to get by sometimes. This is one of those things I had expected to cut for a month or two, and now it is being offered to me for free during that amount of time. What do I do? Ack. I will be less than a mile away from the library, and will be able to check my email from there every so often, and I will still have my phone for communication... but it sure would be handy for me, living in a new city and needing resources and stuff.....

I will have to really think hard about this. I honetly can't decide right now if I want to accept that or not. The other thing I keep thinking about is that he just found out that his paychecks were not as many as he thought they would be Post-Burning Man.... and he just had all the expenses with the truck breaking down in Coalville.... I don't know I don't know I don't know......

It's not like it's an AGONIZING decision to make... it's just kinda ambiguous or something right now. More on this later when I make a decision.

On a totally different note, Inga and I are busy loading her stuff into the U-Haul trailer she rented to move back to her parents' house until she leaves for Norway in December to work as an au pair. We had the STUPIDEST thing happen right at the beginning, as we took a few measurements, and then confirmed with the actual piece, that her boxspring will NOT in ANY way fit into that trailer. We actually bent her mattress and made it fit, but then she changed her mind about leaving it bent like that for a couple days, and I can't blame her. So, we un-bent and unloaded it, and she had to call her uncle here in Fargo to see if he could take custody of the bed until her brother comes thru later next month and can pick it up in his pickup and take it home with him.

We really were totally shocked, and not just a little irritated. What kind of people would want to rent a trailer that doesn't fit a regular full-size bed? I suppose people use this smaller size trailer for hauling lumber or hardware or something, but you would think that U-Haul could have spared that extra 2-4 inches to make the damn trailer fit a normal bed! It's not like it's a QUEEN or anything! Sheesh!

That's it for now. Time to finish my sandwich and get back to work. I load my truck tomorrow! And I have to return my cable modem this afternoon. :( So.... who knows when the next time I write will be? ..... It's like a really crappy mystery!
