The man with Boobs
Jul. 22nd, 2005 02:28 pmI just wanted to do a little follow-up on the story of the man who was arrested for indecent exposure after his bare chest was just too much for the arresting officer. (See this post for more details.)
I just found some mugshots of the offender.

Well! It looks like this might be a man who is going through some kind of changes... maybe even hormonal changes? It is still unclear as to whether his breasts were natural or implants, but should that matter? If he is still considered a man, and his breasts are considered "offensive" anyway, that means that offensiveness is based only on breast size, and not the sex of the owner. So small-breasted women are off the hook and free to go topless!
(Actually, I don't want to start ranting again... It turns out that it's not even technically illegal for women to go topless in Cincinnatti. I guess this guy's arrest was unfounded no matter WHAT. Not sure how that works, but I like it. I wonder what kinds of laws there are in other states or cities... I know that bare nipples in the context of breastfeeding are 100% exempt from "indecency laws" here in Minnesota - even in public!)
I think I'd like to find out just how permissive various places in the US are regarding breast visibility...

Well, we do have a peculiar obsession with breasts in this culture. A lot of people think it's just the human nature to be fascinated with breasts but in many cultures, breasts aren't sexual at all. frino mentioned that she'd been wearing the wrong size! So, I got curious. Just now, I took my trusty little tape measure out of my sewing kit, and here's what I did:
And ya know WHAT? I wear 34B anyway! So that means I am one of the lucky few who actually was wearing the correct bra size all along! It's been estimated that up to 70% of women wear the wrong size, so I feel pretty good about this. Now the truly ironic thing is that I HATE HATE HATE wearing bras. I HATE 'em, got that? Frankly, I don't even like wearing shirts that much either. It's not a sex thing or a show-off thing, I just prefer to let The Girls BREATHE!

1) I measured around my trunk just below my breasts. I got 30.5 inches.
2) I added 3 inches to that measurement (33.5) and rounded up to the next even number (34). This is the bra size.
3) I took another measurement around the fullest area of my bust. This was about 36 inches.
4) Now, I subtract the bra size from the breast size, and get the number 2.(Anything between 1 and 2.5 inches for this number is a B cup size.)

Jerome Mason is a 23-year-old man. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds, and apparently his breasts are too large, in the opinion of at least one Cincinnati police officer. Here's the story from the Cincinnati Post.
That's right, Mason was ARRESTED for incedent exposure while he was shirtless in public. If he loses this case in court, does this mean that men should check their cup size before going topless in public again?? I really don't think the good men of Cincinnati have anything to worry about though... It would be ridiculous to start making rules about men's breast sizes allowed to be bared.
Ever seen a small-breasted woman??? They're out there, and plenty of muscle-bound men (or even just portly men!) have bigger boobs than our smaller-breasted sisters... and yet, those men are allowed to bare theirs, while the women have to cover for the sake of "decency"! What a joke. Just last weekend, I was talking to my mom about how womens' breasts are discriminated against in our society. This just drives that point home even more.
I really hope that this opens up the issue for more debate and/or awareness... All breasts are different; men's breasts, women's breasts - they come in all shapes and sizes. They are not sexual organs. Our society is far more prudish about them than most other western nations. There is no reason that women (or large-breasted men) should be prohibited from baring them if they want to. The definition of "Indecent Exposure" is different all over the world, and it has even changed drastically over time in our own society! Check out this article for details. Nothing would make me happier than equal rights for ALL breasts. Of course, it would probably go slowly, on a city-by-city basis, and women are so brainwashed they would probably be too scared to exercise their rights.... And so many men are so brainwashed (sorry, socialized) into seeing breasts as sexual objects, I'm sure there would be a lot of assaults in the beginning... but this COULD happen, and we COULD get over our Puritan modesty as a nation!!!
What really bugs me is the fact that this big boob Mason (pun intended) has made TWO appointments with his would-be lawyer, and then blew him off both times!! What an ass. And yes, I can call him an ass, not just because he stood up his lawyer, but because he stole library books! (See the end of the news story.) What an ASS!!
