This morning, on the way to work, I stopped at the 5-way intersection a few blocks from my house. When I started to go again, turning left, I noticed a woman in a minivan approaching the intersection directly across from me. She was approaching it really fast, mouth wide open (laughing) and applauding. No hands on wheel. For all I know her eyes were closed. She had glasses and kinda sad-looking 80s hair. She did stop at the stop sign, but it was abrupt. Then she stopped clapping and put her hands on the wheel.

There was no one in the car with her. I doubt the radio could hear or appreciate her applause.

A few weeks ago I saw a driver and passenger chatting with each other in sign language. As in, neither hand on the wheel, nor eyes on the road. Now, I have no problem with deaf folks driving. But I guess I do have a problem with them carrying on a conversation while doing so.
