I dunno - but apparently there are lots of Ballroom Gowns look kind of like that. I don't know how commonly they are used outside of competitive ballroom dancing, but I just don't care. ;) I like all the drapey things on the arms (like this one) or the ones that have sashes that hang off the back of the neck and stuff.

I wish I could find a picture like the one I'm imagining in my head...
