Knitting status report
Jan. 15th, 2006 10:47 amI have approximately an hour and a half left of work on theI' light blue and white capelet I'm knitting with Jo-Ann Sensations Rainbow Boucle. I cannot STAND knitting it anymore! It's just straight stockinette ALL THE WAY AROUND OVER AND OVER AND OVER. So freaking boring. I'm impressed that I've got 8.5 inches already done. I only need to get it to 12 inches, and the last inch is going to be seed stitch so that will be maybe a little less boring, but not much. The worst part is that I'm probably never going to wear it anyway! I really hate the way it looks knitted up on US 10 needles, even though they are the recommended size and I am hitting gauge spot-on. Bleh - just too "holey" and sloppy-looking. (Oh wait - I'm using size 10.5. Where did I ever get that idea?!? Oops...) And the stuff is next to impossible to frog. I have no idea what I'm going to do with the rest of this stuff... and there is a TON of it!
I've been working slow and steady on the shawl. Only like 1 or 2 repeats per day (that's only like 4-8 rows). But it's going well enough. It's one of those things I don't care if I finish, but it's nice to have around for something more interesting to work on, while still being somewhat mindless so I can also have a nice conversation or watch TV or something.
The skull scarf has been neglected for a couple days, but there is a reason! With all the furniture moving around lately, the little shelf where I have that project sitting is completely blocked by 3 rocking chairs that need to find new places to sit. (Or else I need to find a different place for that shelf.)
I am sick of those ridiculous Angel Hair socks. The stuff is kind of slimy-feeling to work with... that's the best description I can come up with. And I'm doing it on metal DPNs, which suck on their own anyway, but combined with this yarn it just sucks supremely. Somehow all my stitches are feeling way too tight, too. Probably because that yarn is pretty bulky and actually recommends size 11 needles, a FAR cry from my 6s. I don't know. It's all just this nasty slippery hard-to-handle mess. Coming out more like a weird slipper than a sock! lol... We'll see where this goes. I'm not too confident in the future of these socks. Ick.
One final note - I'm seriously considering starting a dedicated knitting blog. I created another Blogspot called http://amberjoyknits.blogspot.com/ (nothing is there yet) and I have found some html and css coding for some interesting-looking little knitting progress bars. I just like the ease of my LJ client, but I think for this new purpose my blogger stuff would be more powerful, since I would have a lot more control over it.
