News roundup

ambericaA few news stories I want to make note of here:
Daylight Saving might gain 2 more months starting THIS FALL. Don't believe me? Ask the joing Senate-House committee pushing it into a new energy package! I don't know what to think about this... I THINK I like it... I'm always more depressed when we set the clocks back for fall... this will delay it by a month and make it end a month earlier too. Hmmmm......
Next up, I should shop at Costco more! It seems that unlike WalMart/Sam's Club, Costco does NOT abuse their employees and pass the savings on to the customer, and the profits on to the stockholder. This sounds like a highly reasonable and very nice business model. How dare Wall Street insult Jim Sinegal (the chief executive of Costco Wholesale)?!?
This is not really "news," but just some nice stuff about sex from our friends, the Russians.
And finally, PROOF that I'm not the only one!!! (Well, Jamie does it at work too... but since we work in the same building, I figured it was just a building problem.) It seems that women running space heaters in the middle of summer while trapped in freezing air-conditioned offices is a very common phenomenon! And the guy in this story is complaining that running a heater like that is like running a microwave for 8 hours straight. Huh. If you're THAT interested in conserving energy, I would suggest turning the air conditioning down. It's either women freezing or men sweltering, and apparently productivity and work quality actually goes up with the temperature! (Hey, it's in the news story, I'm not just pulling this out of thin air, I promise.)
So yeah, that's Amber's little news roundup for today. Gads, I can't believe it's only Wednesday... I was ready for a weekend by Monday afternoon! Yeah... OK.
