I still don't have internet. I figure I can get it once I get a job... and here's the update on that situation!

I did a temp job on Monday from 8 am to noon, and this was also kind of an "audition" to get the job permanently and replace the lady who is retiring on the 22nd. There were 3 other candidates for this position, who also worked a few hours there yesterday and today, and I just got a call this afternoon from my agent who said that he had SORTA good news so far. He said that he had lunch with the people at the office I am applying at today, and that they have now narrowed it down to 2 candidates for the position. (Of course one of them is me!) Anyway, he said that from what he has heard so far, they are leaning about 75% in my favor, and they will tell him their decision tomorrow at lunch, so I should know by tomorrow afternoon if I get the job or not.

It's an administrative position; the pay is pretty good, just under 30k, with full benefits IMMEDIATELY (yeeeee-haw!!) and like 11 paid holidays, 3 paid personal days per year, and one week of vacation after 6 months, 2 weeks of vacation after the first year until 5 years, where it is 3 weeks. Holy crap, man, I could get paid to be at Burning Man again next year! Anyway, my hopes are not TOO high yet, since I don't know how this is going to turn out, and even if I do get it, I may not like it much there, which is still cool since it is a temp-to-hire position, so I get a month or two to really make the final decision on whether or not I want to stay there. I still have plenty of leads that I can follow up on, so I'm not left out in the cold if I don't get it or don't want to keep it.

Oh, the other cool thing about this job is that it is just 2 miles from my home, so I don't have to worry about the commute at ALL. That's always cool. Especially since the fuel pump is busted on my car. I found a letter from the manufacturer that said this model is known to have the fuel pump go bad prematurely, and they will pay for the repairs within 6 years or 75K miles. The car is now 7 years/80K miles. Grr. It figures. At any rate, it shouldn't be hard to fix, and I am driving the Expedition in the meantime. It is funny to be this tiny little girl walking out to the biggest truck in the whole parking lot at Target or wherever. I wonder if people think I am a soccer mom when they see that?
