We LOVE to knit, no one MAKES us

The stupid it burns.
There is SOOO much I want to say to this little lady Tonya Jameson, but considering the article is like 2 years old (and really badly written), and the fact that this is a re-post of the original article from the Charlotte Observer, there's not a huge reason to comment at the webpage. But that doesn't mean I can't say something here!
She is obviously clueless. Feminism means doing WHATEVER we want. This woman is one of those ridiculous idiot females who thinks that we need to be JUST LIKE MEN if we ever want to be equal. That's just stupid. Umm, hi? Vive la difference, anyone? Good fricking grief. Hell, knitting was traditionally a men's craft anyway - does she think it's still ok for them to do it but NOT us? What kind of sense does THAT make?! Maybe she thinks no one should knit because she's jealous that she doesn't know how.
What really gets me is how she likens knitting to "hiding" - locked up alone at home, safe from harm. Good grief. I don't even know where to start with this. Maybe she should go to one of the thousands of Stitch n Bitch groups in this country and tell the knitters that. See how many times she gets stabbed. Heh.
I feel good that it's an extremely badly-written article. It makes me think that it's some kind of college-freshman English assignment - "Write something provocative and controversial." Yeah, she got my ire up, but it's not well written and is ill-informed, not to mention insulting to the author.
I want to say more but I'm at work and need to get a few things done here.
