I am having a really crummy morning, and I've only been at work for an hour and a half. :( It's like everything that could go wrong IS going wrong, and just when I feel like I've got everything straightened out, something else comes up.
It's not that stuff is ACTUALLY so bad, but I don't FEEL like I'm in control of anything this morning. Ick. I was like 3 minutes late this morning and I forgot my security badge and keys to my file drawer. Then the instructor for a class in the building this week wanted a list of local restaurants, and they are in my file drawer! Then he wondered if there was any coffee the attendees in the class could drink, but if he wanted coffee, he should have had that set up before! So I had to call the Veritas Cafe and beg for a couple of FREE pots of coffee for them, which is not really what is supposed to happen, but there was no other option at that point! Plus they wanted vending machines, but there IS no vending for guests in the building, so at least I had a straight answer on that, but it was "NO" so I still felt kinda bad.
The rest of the stuff that has happened this morning has actually been pretty run-of-the-mill, but it FEELS worse than usual. Stuff like, 2 of my really nice rollerball pens got snatched over the weekend, and my letter opener that was stolen 2 weeks ago (and I replaced last week) suddenly REAPPEARED in my pen cup! So now I have 3 letter openers because the replacement one I got was actually half of a 2-pack. I just hate that kind of crap. People shouldn't take my stuff. And if they are going to take it and then return it later, they should really TELL me! lol - Just because my desk is kind of in a public traffic area does not make my things public property! Uff da!
OH! And the stupid fax machine was being a bitch. I tried to send a fax and then it just froze up and said it was resetting but didn't DO anything! So I had to turn it off and wait for it to totally reboot which takes WAY too long and is annoying, and THEN I could send the fax. And people keep asking me things that I don't know and am not supposed to know, like "Where do we put the gifts for the Adopt a Family thing?" ACK! That is not my project! So I had to check my email, the same email that was sent to EVERYONE, and explain that the gifts go UNDER THE TREE!!! Which they would know too if they read the same EXACT email which was sent to them but they are too lazy too read it! Plus, OF COURSE presents go under the tree! Where else would they go?? Under my desk, probably. Heh. In place of all the other stuff they STEAL from it.
And now I just got another wrong number call. It gets annoying. Hell, everything is annoying today, but I just smile and am sweet and helpful to everyone anyway, because I'm at work and that's what I should do. I'm actually kinda glad that I don't bother letting personal irritations affect my performance at work..... and the security guard DID get my files unlocked, so I got the restaurant maps to the class after all... And they do have (friggin free) coffee now... And the fax finally went thru.... I just feel like I can't wait for the day to be over anyway...
Eric gave me some more data sets to make spreadsheets and graphs out of, so that will help speed the day up at least. Problem is, it's only from one server this time, so it will go a lot faster than when I am using 2 alternating servers... Oh well....
As B always says, "BAH." ;) (Sorry we couldn't come out for your B-day. I hope it was really fun, and I hope I get to see you later this week!)
