About last week
Dec. 6th, 2004 09:35 pmOK, I never got to finish my rant about last week. I posted ONE day's worth of shit, and just didn't have it in me to actually log the rest of the week on here. Yeah, it was that bad. We had TWO employees go to the emergency room on either Tuesday or Wednesday (I forget which). One of them just passed out and cracked his head open on the floor, and I had to call 911 for him, and then another guy put a nail or something of the sort THROUGH his fingernail! He got to the hospital without me calling for the ambulance again, but it was still ridiculous.
On Thursday there was this weird incident - Jan (from the Cafe) was out of town and gave me her supply orders to hand off to the guy when he came to pick them up. I was expecting him to show up today (Monday) but he came on Thursday instead. I happened to be away from my desk on break, and Jamie was filling in for me. She did not know that I had the folder for the guy, so when he came in, she issued him a security pass and let him into the building with one of the Cafe assistants. When I got back to my desk, I saw that he had logged in and panicked, becasue Jan had told me to ABSOLUTELY NOT let this guy into the building, since he is a little "weird" and she would not be there to keep an eye on him. So I had to run back down to the Cafe and try to find where the guy was, and the gal in the kitchen said he was not with her anymore - so NOW I have a security issue! One of the Engineers was with me, so we started looking for the dude, and finally found him in Jan's office, on the phone! I walked in and said "HI!" really loudly, trying to get his attention, but he just glanced at me. I showed him that I had the paperwork he needed to pick up (and that was the ONLY reason he needed to be in the building at all), and he just took the folder and tossed it on Jan's desk! He would not listen to me, so I had to go running around again and chase down the security officer in the building to take care of it, meanwhile Eric (the Engineer) was trying to talk the dude out of there too. So Eric was trying to get rid of him, and then Security found him, and they come up to my desk WITHOUT the guy! I'm like, "Where is he NOW??" and they said he STILL wouldn't leave and was putting up a fuss. Finally Eric comes back up to my desk with the guy, who just stormed out of the building, all pissed off.
After he was gone, Eric told me that the dude had actually taken off his COAT and SHOES and sat down at Jan's desk and started using HER phone, and when they were trying to tell him he could not do that and had to have an escort while in the building because of all the sensitive materials we have in there, he was all bitchy and saying that he had NEVER been treated like this before and blah blah blah! WHATEVER. If Jan has actually been letting him roam around unescorted, that is a BIG no-no, and Security has to talk to her when she gets back tomorrow. Jan's assistant Lori tells me that there is NO reason this guy EVER needs to even come to the facility, since all he does is pick up their supply order and then stay around far too long. I know Jan is TOTALLY computer illiterate, so maybe I should just offer to email the orders for her from now on. Ugh.
So there were a lot of other little stupid things that went wrong last week, but those were some of the bigger stupider ones.
HOWEVER, I got home on Thursday night, and I had a voicemail from
zebracar saying that he had left something for me in the building manager's office here at my place (I figured it was something to cheer me up because I had been so upset the night before), so I ran over there to see what it was, and I got TWO gift certificates for massages at the day spa up the road! (I used one on Friday night, and that one hour made the whole week just melt away so I could finally relax and just enjoy the weekend. He is amazing. Wow.
