My most recent bike just got thrown away. It's ok, I was quite done with it. The rims were really cheap and kept getting bent. The brakes were terrible in too many ways to mention. And it was not one I picked out. It was a charity bike - my mom's friend's daughter got rid of it when SHE got a new one and it went to me because my beautiful purple bike had been stolen, as had the grey bike before that! This latest bike had been rusting in Jon's trailer since Burning Man 2004, so I just told him he could throw it away for me. Fine. I just wish he hadn't thrown away the $30 headlight that I had just bought for it! Oh well, it probably didn't survive the winter very well in that open trailer anyway.

So now I am in the market for a new bike, one that will NOT get stolen or broken or thrown away. Also, since I'm older and wiser now than I've ever been before, I am going for comfort. I don't need a stupid mountain bike again since I don't go "off-roading" on bicycle anyway! I have my eyes on a cute beach cruiser with 7 speeds! All I really need is about 3 speeds, so that's a bit of an extra perk. The seat is BIG and FAT and WIDE and VERY VERY cushy and comfy on my butt-bones. The bicycle frame itself is quite long and low and easy to get on and off, and I can rest my feet flat on the ground when stopped, so I feel very secure on it. The handlebars are long, and come waaaay back to me, so I can sit up nice and straight, which also feels more secure than leaning forward while riding. I'd say I grip the handles about 4-6 inches in front of my hips. I dunno. I only sat on it once.

It is dark navy blue with some gray, which I'm not too keen on, but Jon said he'd help me with the spray painting (I'm not very good at that) and then I am going to hand-paint smaller designs onto it. It will be beautiful. I think I am also going to make a faux fur "coat" for the frame that can be removable... yeah. That would be crazy.

So yeah, at any rate, I will post pictures when I buy it and get it assembled.
