Chatting with ML the other day, and he says in response to something I said, "So you reject-a the Lord-a!" Admittedly, he meant it kind of in a joking way, but he IS a Christian and also meant it in a serious way, the way any Christian really believes what they are saying when they talk about people "Rejecting the Lord." I always found that to be a rather bizzare statement, but I could never really put my finger on WHY. I think I figured it out a bit after putting some thought into it.

The way I see it, in order to "REJECT" an idea like the Judeo-Xian "God," one must first acknowledge and accept that thing. It has to be a feasible concept within that person's view of reality. On the other hand, it is difficult to say that one rejects something that is not even a PART of reality (as one sees it). As an example: there is a human belief system that states that the earth is flat and rests on the back of a giant turtle. Many westerners see this as a fanciful tale, and not at all something to be taken seriously; nothing more than a colorful myth. It is not something they "REJECT," because it is simply not something they even think of as "REAL." They view it in a very different way than the people who may belive it to be the truth about the nature of the world.

This idea of "The Lord" is quite a colorful tale in itself. A giant invisible ubiquitous omniscient and CONSCIOUS entity, which is alternately JEALOUS, VENGEFUL, and LOVING. What a fascinating character! But that doesn't mean it is a reality. I don't deny that there very well may be something more than what we see and know in our world, but the idea of an anthropomorphic god-character running the show seems rather childlike and silly. I don't REJECT this "God" character, it simply doesn't exist!

Now, there are satanists and there are Satanists. I know little about these silly people, but here is what I understand, from the little research I have done. Most satanists are actually just "Humanists." They revel in the physical; they see nothing better than this world, the natural world. They do not "worship Satan" because they do not believe in him/it, nor do they believe in any kinds of gods or supernatural world. I'm not even sure if "real" Satanists exist, but the really scared Xians seem to think they do. By "real" I mean people that believe in the existence of God and Satan as actual conscious beings, and actively REJECT God in favor of worshipping Satan (or whatever they do). That is someone "Rejecting the Lord," but that is certainly not where I'm at! To suggest that would be about as off-target as you could get on me.

Maybe sometime I will write more about what I do believe, but I see no point in that at this time. And I've got other stuff to do right now.
