Weather et al.
Apr. 6th, 2005 08:13 amYesterday was like 76 degrees here in the Cities. And I was here at work. It seems like I'm at work like 40 hours every WEEK. Ha.
So anyway, we had a very nice thunderstorm that hit rather suddenly and woke me up at 3:00 this morning. There was even hail. I could hear it. I laid in bed thinking, "Oh great, now I'm going to have big holes in my sunroof in addition to the driver's side mirror that is still being held on with duct tape.
That's right, I still haven't replaced the mirror that was knocked off by some coward in the Old Navy parking lot last fall. I could say it's because I'm too much of a girl to figure out where to find a junkyard, and don't know what I would to even if I did find one, but I prefer to say that I haven't fixed the mirror because it keeps me humble. Who needs a perfect-looking car? Not someone like me!
Speaking of Old Navy, I think I'm never shopping there again. I used to like it in Fargo a LOT, but the one I go to in Minneapolis is always a mess, the racks are always overcrowded and NOT with my size, and the kids that work there just seem to have bad attitudes. Even the music is not as good as at the Old Navy in Fargo. Come on, I want that good old disco and funky stuff! Please? Or at least shoppable racks? Bleh. Forget it, it's not worth even whining about. I like Kohl's better now anyway.
Yeah, I went to Kohl's last night. I told Jon I was going for a bike ride, which was true when I said it, but then immediately AFTER I said it I changed my mind, threw on some jeans, and headed over to the Kohl's here in Roseville that I hadn't visited since I moved here. It was great! I found all kinds of good stuff to wear to work for springtime, and awesome sale prices. See, I had this recent horrible realization that all the appropriate "work clothes" that I own are basically for the fall and winter seasons. That is, heavier weight materials, darker colors, lots of turtlenecks, stuff like that. So I went to TJ Maxx last week and got a couple new tops, but not enough. Last night I found a whole PILE of "springy" clothes at Kohl's!
So here's what happened at the checkout: I decided to apply for a Kohl's charge account so I could save 15% off the purchase, and when I submitted the paperwork, the cashier girl informed me that the system said I already HAD an account! I was shocked, to be sure. I did not remember ever having a Kohl's charge, and the last time I remembered applying for one, many many years ago, I was declined (and quite offended, I might add!) Well, I guess I re-applied after that, because she called in about it for me, and they said I had closed the account. Huh. So that must have been when I went to New York and closed all the in-store charge cards I had at the time. I remember doing that. I must have had the Kohl's card and just NEVER used it.
So anyway, I had the account, and I gave permission to re-open it with my new current address and phone number and all that. Good good. THEN, the cashier tells me that she can hold the order for me until Thursday, when I will be able to receive an additional 15% off by using my Kohl's charge account! How can I say no to that?? At that moment, I grabbed one of the forms that you can fill out to commend an employee who went above and beyond to help you out, and I jotted down what had just happened! I hope Sara gets a reward or at least recognition for that. She was great! WAY better than those nasty kids at the Minneapolis Old Navy! She folded and bagged up all my clothes, and told me I would be able to pick them up on Thursday at the Customer Service desk. So I won't be able to wear any of my new clothes until the day after tomorrow (Friday) but that's just fine with me. What a deal! I think I will be shopping at Kohl's a LOT more in the future. I had forgotten just how much I actually like that store!
I think it's because I never really went out to the Fargo Kohl's on my own much. Sometimes I'd tag along with my mom, and I always found good stuff when I went, but somehow I never really made a habit of heading out there on my own. Not sure why. Maybe it's because I first started going with mom when I was younger, and didn't drive, and wasn't really at a point yet where I was responsible for buying my own school clothes. Then again, I really hated clothes shopping pretty much up until I was in my 20s. But the point is, I never got into the habit of going to Kohl's by myself, because I always associated it with being taken somewhere by my mom. Well, I'm just glad I've figured out that I can go there on my own now, and the one in Roseville is a LOT closer than the Fargo one was to where I lived there. Super nice.
And let me just take this chance to say, once again, that I SOOO love Roseville, MN! I love living here, I love working here, I love shopping here, and I love riding my bike here.
My bike. I'm gonna start referring to it as my Jaguar. I PROMISE, I will post pics when I get batteries in my camera. I just keep forgetting to buy more, but I am making a point to kick myself over it every day. It's not working yet, but I bet that I will have some new batteries in there by the end of this week, and then I can upload my pix. Wait, no. I have to TAKE the pix of the Jaguar first. THEN I will upload them.
OK, I'm done rambling now. That is all. Transmission end.
